From 12 to 17 April 2026, Gow Victor & Co. participated in the Malaysia Business Delegation to Hainan, China, organised by Intrinsic SEA. Led by our Managing Partner, JJ Gow, together with Victor and Rowie, our team had the opportunity to engage with stakeholders, explore cross-border opportunities, and gain deeper insights into one of Asia’s fast-evolving business gateways.
A key highlight was our discussion session with senior representatives of Sanya Yazhou Bay Authority, including He Qingsong, Deputy Director of Industry Promotion, and Vice Mayor Fan Mu of Sanya. The session provided valuable insights into the strategic role of the area within the Hainan Free Trade Port, particularly as a hub for technology, digital economy, life sciences, marine innovation, and international investment collaboration.
Hainan’s development is especially noteworthy following the commencement of its special customs operations on 18 December 2025, with expanded zero-tariff policies and measures aimed at facilitating trade, investment, and easier access to the China market for global businesses.
We also noted the region’s investor-focused ecosystem, including one-stop government services, enterprise support, talent incentives, intellectual property protection, and business-friendly policies designed to support sustainable growth.
We thank Intrinsic SEA for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality, and we look forward to future Malaysia & China collaboration.
